Internet Social Phenomenon Final

With the course coming to a close, I decided to make my posts on Internet Social Phenomenon a 2 part series.

I wanted to focus this last one on Viral Videos and internet celebrities.
How can such uncanny characters create content able to spread faster than the deadliest disease?

While poking around the interesting world of York's Fine Arts and Cultural Studies homepage; I found a blog post on the Tactical Media Course page that conveys exactly my message:

It takes about Youtube celebrity "Pruane2Forever".
Tactical Media Blog

Alot of things stated in the Tactical Media blog can be related to this next one.
Lets talk about another one. A personal favorite: "Boxxy"

Urban Dictionary Describes Boxxy as:
A jittery camgirl whose constant eye movements, subject changing, and tonal variation gained her the adoration of Youtube, Gaia, and 4chan.

Its January 16th 2009. On Youtube, the user 'boxxybabee', has 21,800 subscribers, 1.4 million video views and over 38,000 comments on her videos and channel, yet she only signed up 8 days ago, and has only 3 videos. Many people were, and are confused. How did this happen?

I HIGHLY recommend reading as much as you can of The Boxxy Story.
Its long but outlines her rise and fall from by a faithful unbiased viewer from the very start. Such an accurate compilation of facts about her are hard to come by.

It would take too long to post an in depth analysis on both of them and their situations. I merely wanted to bring them to the attention of any readers wanting to know more about the kinds of things changing the electronic social landscape.
